Introduction

Mahila development center is a non-government organization. A sarvodaya activist Mr. Paramhans Prasad Singh founded it. The work of MDC is in districts of north Bihar. Mr. Singh is associated with Sarvodaya movement under the leadership of Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan in Bihar. His contribution was also in the anti naxal movement in Mushahri block of Muzaffarpur district. He worked with down trodden and landless farmers. His contribution in the field of rural development is commendable. In late eighties he concentrated his work in Muzaffarpur and founded Mahila Development Center. He started the work under Mahila Development Center in the red light area of Muzaffarpur, because the sex worker community is very marginalized and stigmatized.
